Last Chance (sort of)

Clouds above SeattleSome of you may know that a couple of years ago I published an ebook about photographing Seattle. The ebook, Scenic Seattle, the Best Spots – Best Shots Guide to Photographing the Emerald City, is available for ordering here on my blog. Well, this week is you last chance to get a copy, because next week I’m pulling it from sales both here and at all online retailers. So get a copy while you can!

Why Joe, you might ask, are you stopping sales of your book? I’m glad you asked. It’s because I recently signed a contract with Schiffer Publishing to do a revised, updated print edition of the book. My manuscript is due at the publisher at the end of this week. And with that, I am contracted to end sales of the ebook so as not to interfere with the marketing of the new book.

If you miss this last chance to get Scenic Seattle, you need only wait until next spring, when the print edition is due to come out. You may want to wait. The new edition will have more places, more information, and more photos. Better yet, get a copy of both!

To whet your appetite for the new edition, here are a few images that will be in the print edition but not the original ebook version. Want to see more? You will have to wait until spring 2016 (or buy the ebook this week!).

First of all, congratulations on the publishing contract!

Second of all, thanks for the warning. While I’d love to get an updated edition, you only mentioned a print version, and this is the kind of thing I prefer to have on my tablet. So unless your publisher plans to release an ebook at the same time as print, I’ll snag a copy before you take it down.

Thanks. I didnt’ mention a new ebook version because that is somewhat up in the air. The publisher wants the ebook rights to the new book, but currently does not publish any ebooks. They told me they intend to publish all their books in ebook versions sometime in the future. So, an ebook version may come out, I’m just not sure when.

However, when it does, it will certainly be more expensive than the current version. When I asked about their ebook pricing policy, they said their ebooks will not be discounted much from the print version price. The price has yet to be set on the print version, but will likely be around $20-25. So my current ebook price of $5.99 will be quite a bit less.

Thanks! The new book is at the publisher now. They sent a mock-up of the cover this week, it looks great!
